Care & Maintenance
Share
Ever wondered how to care and maintain your wooden products and furniture?
Below are some tips!
Tip 1: Clean regularly
Use a damp microfiber cloth with mild unscented soap to remove any grimes, dust and spots. Ensure the wood is fully dried before storing them.
- To minimise warpage, set it upright to dry and avoid placing near hot areas (such as stoves) so that the product will not be exposed to extremes in temperature.
Tip 2: Avoid the Sun
Avoid placing your furniture near any uncovered windows that directly expose your wooden furniture to sunlight.
Tip 3: Be gentle with your furniture
Use coasters and placemats to hold hot or cold kitchenware and keep sharp objects away to prevent scratches. If you wish to remove a dent or scratch, you will need to sand the wood accordingly.
Tip 4: Re-oil when needed
Apply mineral oil to solid wooden products so they don't warp or crack easily.
Do note that most wood finishes will wear off over time and it is recommended to reapply.
Recommended frequency:
For kitchen utensils and surfaces: Once to twice a month
For other wooden products and furniture: Once to twice a year
Mineral oil is a good choice for cutting surface as it is food-grade. It does need regular care, including regular re-oiling, done by applying mineral oil until the wood will take no more.
- Naturally hydrates and restores moisture in timber to prevent cracking and drying.
- Mineral oil is a non-drying oil. If there is a greasy feel on the wood, you may wipe the excess off with a clean & dry cloth.
- Do note that most wood finishes will wear off over time and we would recommend to reapply the finishing once or twice a year.
